Pind Daan puja is a sacred ritual in India which is performed after the death of a person. This ritual is performed to attain Mukti from the cycle of rebirth & death. According to Hindu beliefs the Gaya pind daan is a must ritual which should be accomplished after the death of their loved ones. It is considered that the Gaya Pind daan is the most vital & mandatory ritual to free the deceased souls. This ritual is especially aimed to liberate the soul towards final salvation, and it is also believed that after the pind daan ritual is performed, the soul will be free from the cycle of rebirth. Steps to Perform Pind Daan: 1. Select an Auspicious Date: Choose a date deemed auspicious for conducting the ceremony popularly known as Pind Daan Many families observe this ritual during Pitru Paksha, which typically falls in the months of September or October. However, you have the freedom to perform it on any suitable day. 2. Purify Yourself: Prior to commencing the custom, cleanse yourself with a refreshing bath and attire yourself in clean clothing symbolizing purity. 3. Create a Sacred Space: Identify a tranquil and immaculate area within your residence where you can create space for performing the ritual activity. Place either a copper or silver platter atop a fresh linen cloth. 4. Allocate Spaces for each 'Pind': Organize singular 'Pinds' upon the platter, one dedicated to each deceased ancestor whom you aim to honor. 5. Purify Surroundings: Sprinkle water across the plate's surface purifying it before igniting an oil lamp or diya. 6. Burn Incense Sticks or Camphor: Light incense sticks or camphor tablets while waving them over each 'pind' praying earnestly for your ancestors' welfare. 7. Recite Mantras or Prayers: Optionally, chant mantras or prayers exclusively devoted to those souls who passed away previously by seeking consultation from a religious official or using prayer books as references. 9. Symbolize Offering Water: Symbolically offer few water droplets onto individual pinds representing offering of water towards your ancestors.
